This change assumes installation via the terminal. When the instructions were written, they assumed installation via Finder.
Personally, I think adding instructions specific to the terminal confuses the matter. Less technical people will (should) use Finder, more technical people generally already understand the nuance of working with the Shell.
I am personally not a fan of this change because I think it confuses the easy (Finder) case and does not substantially enhance the technical (Shell) case.

how would you do the first step without the terminal? im on big sur and I couldn't get it to work

@matthiasdebernardini; I just did this on macOS without issue from the Finder. I just had to open the folder in the Finder, drag and drop the file in, it prompted for admin credentials, I gave them, and it all worked peachy.
